M&M Drilling Rivers Ltd was started by Maurice Howard Dickson. Born in Lodgepole Saskatchewan in 1937, Maurice began drilling with a company from Saskatoon called International Water Supply. After settling down in Rivers Manitoba, Maurice launched his own drilling company in 1964. In the beginning we serviced an area extending to the US border to Thompson and as far west as Portage la Prairie. During that time much of our business was government contracts, providing water for loading stations and provincial parks.
Today M&M Drilling Rivers Ltd is owned and operated by Jeff Dickson. Jeff has been working with the company since 1984 and took over ownership in 2005. During that time our area of business has been focused in the Westman area, providing a source of water for residential and industrial applications. Jeff’s son Shane Dickson is representing the third generation of drillers, working with the company since 2008 and recently obtaining his Bachelors of Science degree focusing on geology.
Our main residential well type is constructed of 5 inch PVC plastic with a factory slotted stainless steel screen on the bottom. We also specialize in larger wells, ranging from 8 to 15 inches in size, these wells are constructed with steel or PVC plastic casing. These large wells are mainly used for irrigation, most notably for the potato farmers located in Carberry Manitoba who are situated over the Assiniboine Delta Aquifer. M&M Drilling over the years has worked alongside hydrologists to provide sources of water for pipelines and water treatment plants in small towns and cities within the Westman area. We also provide 24 hour pump service for these important wells including the many pumps that are operating within the Assiniboine Delta Aquifer.
